Competent in House Advice

Gareth Smith, our dedicated HSQE manager is responsible for implementation of health and safety as well as the statutory requirement of providing competent health and safety advice. He plays a key role as part of our management team carrying out audits on all our sites. These audits provide direction to the JCA team and identify areas where Gareth can provide training or mentoring to the site team to improve the health and safety culture and knowledge.

Gareth has completed the City and Guilds NVQ level 4 in occupational health and safety practice and has 5 years’ experience as assistant health and safety advisor at his previous employer (mainly in the ‘working at height’ and CDM environments). Gareth has also completed APS management of CDM coordination course and due to his independence within the group has worked as CDM coordinator for some of JCA’s key clients. Gareth holds membership of IOSH, the professional body for health and safety practitioners, through which he is able to ensure that he is up to date with all the latest changes and legislation in the health and safety field.
